Resources
The shared folder tree where saved reports, dashboards, exports, handouts, files, and cohorts live.
Resources is forefront’s folder tree. Anything you make in forefront that isn’t tied to a single class lands here — saved reports, dashboards, export and import jobs, handouts and documents, uploaded files, saved cohorts, and links — and the folder it sits in is what decides who else can see it.
How the tree works
- Your starred folder (marked with a ★) is your own space. Things saved there are yours until you move or share them.
- Shared folders further up the tree are how a district publishes something to everybody — the same resource in a district folder is visible to the people that folder is visible to.
- New + (top right) creates a resource in the folder you’re currently in. What you can create depends on your permissions.
- Right-click any resource for its actions. The list is per type: a job template offers Run and Schedule, a document offers Download and Replace File, a file offers Import, and most types offer Clone, Move, Rename, Public, and Delete. Every menu ends with History.
Seeing who changed something
Right-click a resource or folder and look at the bottom of the menu. Under History is a short line such as Modified by Jane Doe on 9/12/26 — the most recent change and who made it.
Click History to see every recorded change, newest first:
- When — how long ago, such as 2h ago or Yesterday. Older changes show the date. Hover over it for the exact time.
- Who — the person who made the change.
- What — what happened: created, edited, renamed (with the old and new names), moved (with the folders it moved between), cloned (with a link to the original), made public or private, deleted, or restored.
A few things worth knowing:
- Folders have two views. Choose This folder for changes to the folder itself, or This folder and everything in it to also see changes to everything inside it.
- Changes to several items at once show as one row. Moving or deleting five items together shows as one change; click Show 5 items to list them.
- Names are links. Click an item or folder name to go to it. If it has since been deleted, it’s marked No longer available.
- Who you’ll see by name. People in your own district are shown by name. A change made by someone in another district shows that district’s name, and changes made by forefront show as Forefront.
- History starts when this feature was released. Older changes weren’t recorded, so a resource nobody has changed since then shows No recorded changes.
- Secure files don’t have a history.
